Budhwar Peth Metro Station

About Station

Budhwarpeth metro station is an underground metro station. This station is proposed in a densely populated residential area near KasabaPeth. It provides connectivity to Shaniwarwada, Kamala Nehru Hospital, Somwarpeth, and RaviwarPeth etc. This station has a unique design, wherein central passenger circulation is planned within the cut-and-cover shaft and the platform will be constructed by NATM Concept – New Austrian Tunneling Method.

The location as per tender was in close proximity to various heritage structures like Shanivarwada, LalMahal etc. Due to this very nature, NATM-New Austrian Tunnelling method (for the first time in India for stations) is adopted which leads to minimal land usage, leading to minimal disturbance for prevailing traffic at the road level.

The design of station involves a central shaft of 1400 sqm which will be excavated upto rail level which is about 25 m deep and then on both ends NATM technique is adopted to construct the platforms. With this unique concept, BudhwarPeth station has been planned in minimum land (govt) and without any disturbance to adjoining residential properties.
